DRYDEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – Conservation work continues in Tompkins County.

The Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) has acquired 11 acres near Fall Creek in the Town of Dryden. The land is a floodplain situated between Upper Creek Road and Route 366 and will be added to the Etna Nature Preserve. The acquisition adds more than 3,100 feet of frontage along the Cayuga Lake tributary.

The new land, accessible from an existing pull-off on Route 366, brings the total protected streambank in the area to 6,200 feet.

“This acquisition adds to a growing greenbelt along Fall Creek,” says FLLT Executive Director Andy Zepp. “By acquiring this land, we’re protecting important habitat while expanding recreational opportunities and helping to maintain water quality.”
