ATHENS, PA (607NewsNow) – A Tioga County man faces multiple charges in Pennsylvania.

On March 1, David Keener, of Berkshire, allegedly led six law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase for 28 miles through New York and Pennsylvania.

The 36-year-old had multiple active warrants in New York. The Morning Times reports Waverly Police contacted the Sayre Borough Police Department around 7 p.m. Sunday to alert them that a grey Jeep with the wrong license plate was headed their way through Barton on Route 17C.

Authorities were waiting for Keener on Route 220 in the Keystone State, where they began their lengthy pursuit. Police reported multiple instances of reckless driving, including brake checking and swerving towards their cruisers at least two times. The chase ultimately ended back in New York with Keener ditching his vehicle on an ice slab before jumping into the Susquehanna River.

Officers say they entered the river to apprehend Keener. Several were injured, and equipment and vehicles were damaged.

Keener is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, evading arrest, fleeing an officer, and flight to avoid apprehension, all of which are felonies. Additionally, he faces 24 misdemeanors, including 20 counts of reckless endangerment, as well as 24 traffic violations.

Keener is being held on $200,000 cash bail. He’s due in court on March 10.
