BUFFALO, NY (607NewsNow) — The Buffalo Bills have hired a new head coach.

More than a week after Sean McDermott was sacked, the team says Joe Brady is agreeing on a 5-year deal. Brady has been with the Bills since before the 2022 season started, first working their quarterbacks coach before moving into the role of offensive coordinator.

“Since being Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, Brady consistently put together offenses that are tough to stop. It’s a balanced attack that can change dependent on the defense it’s facing,” the Bills said in a statement.

McDermott’s ouster on Jan. 19 came shortly after a 33-30 loss to the Broncos in an AFC championship matchup. He dismissal came after a 9-year stint as head coach.

“In 2024, Brady’s offense broke records. They became the first team in NFL history to score at least 30 rushing and 30 receiving touchdowns in a single season. The Bills averaged 30.9 points per game (best in AFC) and allowed a league-best 14 sacks that season.”

“Since becoming Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, the Bills averaged 29.6 points per game (2nd), 367.7 total yards per game (3rd), 145.4 rushing yards per game (3rd) and 222.3 passing yards per game (10th).”
