LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) – A collaboration will benefit older adults in Tompkins County.

Cayuga Health has announced a partnership with Foodnet Meals on Wheels to offer weekly Community Dining lunches at the Shops at Ithaca Mall.

Beginning October 23, midday meals will be served to anyone 60 and up at the former Sears location in the mall. The Community Dining Program is part of Foodnet’s Senior Nutrition Program, which it operates under contract with the Tompkins County Office for the Aging. Cayuga Health is supporting the expansion into Lansing.

“This collaboration with Foodnet aligns seamlessly with Cayuga Health’s mission to provide integrated, community-centered care,” said Cayuga Health Partners Director of Health Equity, Lara Parilla. “By opening our space at The Shops at Ithaca Mall, we are helping create a welcoming environment where older adults can access healthy food, meaningful conversation, and critical health resources close to home.”

Advance registration will be required on the Tuesday before each Thursday lunch by calling Foodnet at (607) 266-9553 before 3 p.m.

Foodnet also operates Community Dining sites Monday through Friday at Ithaca’s Titus Towers, and Tuesdays at the Slaterville Volunteer Fire Company. Volunteers are needed at each site.
