CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Officials in Cortland want to hear concerns from residents about cameras. 

Mayor Scott Steve tells 607 News Now the city wants to expand its camera system, though he understands why some people might be apprehensive. 

Steve says license plate readers, which the city is considering adding to its camera system, could be helpful to police in solving crimes.

“The City of Cortland and the Cortland Police Department have launched a Community Question
and Concerns Forum to provide residents with an opportunity to ask questions, share insights or
concerns, and offer comments regarding the proposed expansion and deployment of public camera
systems throughout the city,” according to a news release.
