CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortland man is facing drug charges.
On April 26, police were called to a domestic dispute on Bartlett Avenue around 4 p.m.
A caller reported that a man and woman were arguing outside of a residence, and the male subject left the area on foot. En route, officers located an individual walking north on Bartlett Avenue who matched the description. Officers say the man, later identified as 54-year-old Artist Quiller, fled on foot. He was eventually taken into custody without incident.
Witnesses allegedly told police that Quiller threw something on the ground during the pursuit, and police recovered a bag in a backyard on Hyatt Street that contained 9.6 ounces of cocaine. According to the Cortland Police Department, it was individually packaged for sale and has an estimated street value of $27,300.
The drugs, $2,500 in cash, and packaging materials were seized as evidence.
Quiller is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and two misdemeanors. He was arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail to await further court proceedings.
