BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) – A Johnson City man faces multiple charges after an incident at Recreation Park.

On June 1, 27-year-old Naim Islam allegedly approached two juveniles at the park and offered them ice cream while asking suspicious questions.

Binghamton Police say at one point during the conversation, Islam extended his hand toward one of the children. The kids reported the interaction to the nearest park employee, and Islam left the area, but not before the employee took a picture of his vehicle.

The following day, authorities located and arrested Islam, who is charged with felony attempted kidnapping and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was remanded to the Broome County Jail.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Binghamton PD at (607) 772-7080.
