MILLPORT, NY (607NewsNow) – A village in Chemung County is facing a water problem.

According to WENY-TV, two mobile home parks in Millport have leaks in their utility lines that hook up to the municipal water system.

The Catherine Valley Mobile Home development is losing nearly 20,000 gallons a day. Millport is preparing for a large water infrastructure replacement project, but it will need to address the leak before moving forward.

Officials say the village will need to draw from a temporary 15,000 during the water infrastructure improvement project, and the lingering issues at the mobile parks could cause a water shutdown.

The village board drafted certified letters to park owners on September 25, notifying them that the parks will be shut down if the repair work doesn’t begin on the leaks soon.

Last week, Chemung County was added to the DEC’s drought warning list.
