ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County is informing the public about changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) Program.

The Tompkins County Department of Social Services (DSS), along with community partners, is launching a 3-part video series to help residents understand new federal work requirements for SNAP.

The videos will feature professionals in human services, public health, and food services explaining what the changes mean, how the county is responding, and how residents can take action.

“We know these changes may feel overwhelming,” said DSS Commissioner Brittanie Earle. “Our community has responded by coming together to make information easier to understand and opportunities easier to find. We encourage residents to learn about the changes, ask questions, and use the available resources.”

The series will also introduce Tompkins Opportunity, a new platform developed to help residents find opportunities and organizations. Officials say it features dozens of volunteer and training opportunities, as well as hundreds of job opportunities.

The videos will be released this week on the Tompkins County Facebook page.
